South Korea’s Newbase Launches ‘Medicrew,’ Revolutionizing VR Medical Training Worldwide

Newbase, a leader in innovation in medical education using the metaverse, has announced the launch of Medicrew, an advanced virtual reality platform that integrates AI-powered virtual patients and a three-step learning model. This platform is designed to enhance clinical skills, improve nurse retention, and expand training opportunities globally, with availability starting in 2025.

Newbase offers a customized virtual reality training experience for healthcare professionals, tailoring content to match individual clinical competencies. Building on its international expertise since 2023, Newbase plans to expand its global presence starting next year.

The platform features an immersive three-step training program:

Skill Learning: Mastering basic nursing tasks such as administering oral medication and pain relief.
Order Implementation: Simulating real-world medical procedures based on doctors’ orders using disease-specific scenarios.
Decision-Making: Using AI-powered virtual patients to practice making critical real-time clinical decisions.

With Medicrew, Newbase has succeeded in enhancing the training quality for new nurses, reducing turnover rates, and receiving high satisfaction ratings from hospitals. The platform is already widely used in nursing schools and leading hospitals across South Korea, including Seoul Asan Medical Center. In 2023, Medicrew was rolled out at the National University of Medical Sciences in Mongolia under the KOICA project, delivering innovative training resources to help local healthcare workers enhance their skills.

Seon Young Park, CEO of Newbase, shared, “Our goal is to transform medical education by breaking down barriers to clinical training and ensuring high-quality learning opportunities for all. We are excited to showcase Medicrew at IMSH2025 in Orlando, USA, starting January 10, where we will present our groundbreaking technology to a global audience.”

With this new platform launch, Newbase is set to strengthen its leadership in both local and international medical education and set new standards in metaverse-driven training solutions.
